Dear Friends and Family:

After exploring a number of opportunities, we have succeeded in establishing a fund to honor Marty.

Both our family and our business have a longstanding history in New Rochelle so we felt it was appropriate to give something back to the city. We have chosen to partner with the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence, a non-profit that provides enrichment programs and services to the New Rochelle public schools.

Under the auspices of this organization we have created:

The Martin Silver Fund for Accounting and Business Studies

which will be implemented at New Rochelle High School. This fund will enable financially limited students to pay for and receive college credits for courses given in New Rochelle High School’s Dual Enrollment Program which partners with both Syracuse University and Westchester Community College. In addition the fund will provide accounting software and simulator material that students can use to gain real life experience.

As you may know, Marty received his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and practiced as a Certified Public Accountant before joining Bel-Aqua. We think he would be so pleased that we are helping young people to follow in his footsteps.

All check donations can be made out to NRFEE with a note referencing the Martin Silver Fund. They can be sent to 265 Clove Road, New Rochelle, NY 10801.

You can also go to this direct link nredfund.org to make a donation.

All donations will be acknowledged directly to the Silver family.

SILVER--Martin A.,

72, of New Rochelle, NY passed away on September 8, 2016. Deeply mourned by his loving wife Linda Maxin Silver, beloved son Scott Silver and wife Bonnie, beloved daughter Shanna Leuchter and husband Bruce, and dear sister Susan Wisan and her husband Robert. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Trey, Allison, Remy and Ross. After graduating from the Wharton School of Business in 1966 he became a CPA. In 1970, he joined the family business, Bel-Aqua Pool Supply in New Rochelle, NY, a company founded by his parents, Nettie and Murray Silver. Along with his sister and partner, Susan, they grew the business to a thriving and industry leading enterprise. Marty was so proud to know that Bel-Aqua would continue to be a family business under the leadership of his son Scott and nephew Mark Warshaw. Within the swimming pool industry, from employees to customers to vendors and even competitors, Marty was held in the highest regard. He was actively involved for many years in local, regional and national trade associations within the pool and spa industry. He was a complete embodiment of business ethics and family values. When he wasn't working he enjoyed traveling, playing golf, watching NCIS and falling asleep by his pool. All of his friends (and there were many) whether personal or professional were near and dear to his heart. He was truly a man of fine character and as he often said his word was his bond. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him. He has left us but he has left behind an untarnished legacy of love and respect. Linda Silver and Family
